The idea of a dude waking up, covered in black bile, with some drawings of a girl on the wall of a room he is barricaded in with the word "Remember" written above them has a lot of other possibilities.
But for some reason putting the two together just didn't seem to click on all cylinders. It's enjoyable enough - the four kids well, 19ish year old young adults are fleshed out quite well for the short span….

The framing device is vaguely intriguing for a while. Not that it leads to a particularly compelling conclusion.
And perhaps if this was packaged in a slightly different way, I could buy into the romance-meet-cute-meets-hive-mind-body-horror premise. But the romance is half-baked, and the hive mind idea is too concealing to adequately marry the two.

I watched this based on the comment that it was like Memento mixed with Evil Dead. And since the Evil Dead moves are my favorite franchise by a long country mile, I jumped into The Hive head-first.
The story is a bit fractured as we're jumping between two different timelines. The editing is choppy and fast, which gives everything a fragmented feeling.
