I thank God I bought it when I bought it since everything concerning Prince has sold out but anyway, watching Director Albert Magnoli speak in a teary voice of the scene between Prince and Clarence talk about marriage and how that scene was in fact a real life experience between Prince and his father, made me really sad.
It was further saddening to know a great deal of the movie was factual regarding Prince's family life.
It touches me deeply because I hadn't known about his childhood. What a true artistic genius and he will be missed! I'm so sorry his childhood was seemingly filled with crying doves.

Having now got it again, I'd forgotten what a good film Purple Rain is. Prince is no Marlon Brando, but this was the role he was born for.
After all these years the final scene with the performance of "Purple Rain" still brings a tear to the eye. Well worth the purchase, and the bonus disc with the live concert is Prince and the Revolution at their best.
