Also, the anachronistic tech is taken way out of hand; with Nemo having a supercharged race car, missile launchers, and a ridiculously large submarine.

And the special effects are especially poor; particularly the CGI, which looks incredibly fake. Still, the action sequences are fun and bring a lot of energy to the film.

My biggest problem with the film was the characters, who were stale and boring. This has lent the series considerable popularity with fans of esoteric Victoriana, who have delighted in attempting to place every character who makes an appearance.
