Verified Purchase. What is so special about films in the mystery thriller genre? Well, I think it all hinges on one key concept.
Does it make us think about our life and the future from new perspectives? I don't know what you think, but that's what I believe. Anyways, I originally watched Now You See Me with a few friends back in college and didn't quite understand the premise behind it although the drama between the characters was definitely memorable.
Recently, I had the honor of watching Now You See Me 2 and came to a similar conclusion as I did after watching the original.
Both films have ensemble casts with great acting chops who are found in films that have some type of intrigue behind them, but as Now You See Me was original and memorable the sequel was rather predictable and confusing to some degree from my point of view.
The actual movie, as far as the actors, the plot and the action, was entertaining for a second installment. However, the sound track was one of "the worst" ever.
The actors were over shadowed by the loud music and noises. They spoke as if in whispers. I was not alone while viewing this and it was a shared opinion that most of the spoken lines were unintelligible.
What a disservice to the quite accomplished actors who comprised the cast. After learning the script, to not be heard while speaking their lines! I would not recommend this to anyone unless an evening of frustration is on the agenda.
I was really excited to watch this movie, especially after how good the first one was. I felt like with the first movie the "magic" was a lot more intricate and thought through than it was for this movie.
For the second movie, you could call what was going to happen for just about every situation which was not the case for the first movie.
It was ok, but given how good the first movie was, I expected a lot more here than what was delivered. Not quite the first one I'm not going to rehash the plot or give a deep analysis of the characters.
Suffice it to say that most the charm, twists, and "how'd he do it" moments of the first one are non-existent in this one. The plot is pretty predictable, and the characters are not that interesting this time.
If the first one, which was amazing, had been like this one, I wouldn't have watched it's sequel. The first one was all about the mystery and suspense.
Anyway, it's worth a couple of bucks to rent it, but not much more. I , They resurface for a comeback show hoping to expose the unethical practises of a tech company magnate who threatens the Horseman into pulling off an almost impossible heist and their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their name and reveal the person behind it all with a great picture , sound and cast , Lizzy Caplan replaces Isla Fisher on this sequel , good show.
This was a great rental and I enjoyed this movie. Sometimes a sequel isn't that good but this one surprised me, it was just as good as the first.
The characters stayed the same and were recognizable from the first movie. For me, I enjoy sequels more when the original cast is back playing the same roles.
The "magic" was believable and the dialogue was smart and funny at the same time. I found myself laughing a lot at some of the things they said. The story kept me interested and I wasn't bored at all.
It was just a fun popcorn movie that is worth watching for a lazy weekend. Now You See Me 2 is an excellent sequel to the first movie and is full of "magical" special effects that really contribute to the story.
There are some new cast members as well as most of the original players who appeared in the first movie, "Now You See Me". The script is well written and features some great quips between the characters that serve to provide some comedy relief as well as round out the personalities of the individuals involved.
Woody Harrelson plays his original character as well as the brother to said character and there is a definite sibling rivalry and a sense of yin and yang between the two.
